The Western New York Anti-Violence Project is here to support gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and queer, questioning or gender non-conforming victims of violence, and to work to lessen and prevent violent crimes against the LGBTQ community.
Who we are:
- We are members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community
- We see violence against our community going unaddressed
- We are convinced it doesn't have to be this way
- We are committed to making a difference
- We are looking for othes like ourselves who want to help
What we do:
- We advocate for the LGBTQ+ Community
- We educate about the issues affecting LGBTQ+ persons
- We monitor police response and the court system
- We provide awareness information
- We provide support groups for LGBTQ survivors of violence
- We provide short-term crisis counseling
- We make referrals for long-term support
- We provide safety awareness information and training
- We provide speakers for schools, churches, other groups
- We provide information of value to LGBTQ+ persons
